LINKdotNET came about as the result of a merger between InTouch Communications and Link Egypt. Established in 1992, InTouch Communications was the first ISP in Egypt. It grew to become and industry leader, and one of the largest in the country in terms of volume. Link Egypt was set up to provide turnkey Internet services and solutions. Formed in 1995, the company quickly held and maintained an enviable track record and displayed strong leadership qualities. 

In June 2000, the two joined forces to become LINKdotNET and so became the dominant new force in the marketplace, with the advantage of the backing and considerable technical and financial resources of Orascom Telecom Holding Company. 

LINKdotNET is a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Holding Company, the largest integrated telecommunications services provider in the region, serving twenty markets throughout the Middle East and Africa.

LINKdotNET public data network (PDN) is designed to bring data and the Internet to businesses around the clock, quickly and easily. It is a dual-homed network, connected to the Internet through three separate connections from two IP providers, UUNet and Flag Telecom to guarantee full redundancy. 

The first connection is through an STM1 connection to UUNET, Tier1 IP provider and one of the largest IP providers in the world, in New York. The other 7 connections together with a backup are through STM1 connections provided by Flag Telecom from its' nodes in Cairo and Alexandria. 

LINKdotNET’s multi-service PDN is a next-generation network that supports multiple services and deploys MPLS technology within its core network to achieve Quality of Service (QoS), high throughput, reliability and availability. The core network is built on Juniper Internet routers. 

LINKdotNET PDN has been designed and implemented to align today’s business requirements. Selecting MPLS (multi protocol label switching) was the corner stone that leveraged our highly sophisticated Juniper infrastructure, differentiating us from the rest of the market. LINKdotNET PDN succeeded in implementing the full frame work of quality in terms of IP Quality of Service (QoS), high throughput, reliability and availability. 

LINKdotNET PDN covers almost 90% of Egypt’s business and residential areas. This was accomplished through an aggressive implementation plan spanning the entire country and with the aim of achieving a very high coverage rate
